NOAA
Open River Initiative (NOAA-NMFS-HCPO-2010-2002086) - Funds are provided
to support community-driven, small dam and river barrier removal projects
that will result in long-term ecological improvements for living marine
and coastal resources, particularly migratory fish. Projects are expected to have strong
on-the-ground habitat restoration components that foster economic,
educational and social benefits for communities; enhance public safety;
and improve populations of NOAA trust resources such as Pacific salmon.
Applications
are due November 16, 2009. Typical awards range from $200,000 to
$700,000. Although a select few may fall outside of this range, project
proposals requesting less than $100,000 or greater than $3,000,000 will
not be accepted.
