La Salle students learn in 11-acre environmental science lab

La Salle High School opened its doors in 1998 on a campus that was developed from what had previously been agricultural land. The school’s acreage was a hay field that had become torn and tattered from cattle use. It looked like a weed patch, with hay spreading all the way to the banks of Ahtanum Creek. Vegetation would not take hold to the land, causing erosion into the creek.
